The ESApro PDM Connector add-in module is a connection software designed to simplify the integration between the ESApro plant design CAD system and document management software (PDM/PLM).
The integration between CAD and PDM/PLM focuses on three main aspects:
Documents Integration and Management of Check-in and Check-out of Drawings
The documents integration includes several functions implemented in the CAD system to assist with various document and drawing management activities within the PDM:
- Saving a new file into the PDM with the assignment of the drawing number.
- Search for an already saved drawin and possibility to perform a check-out.
- Save the modified drawing in PDM with a revision increment and its check-in.
- Automatic publication in PDM of drawings in PDF format, as attached documents for eventual viewing (optional function).
- Automatic management and automatic filling of company titleblocks (optional feature).
- Association of an ESApro drawing with an empty document number already initialized in the drawings registry.
Assisted input of part numbers within the CAD environment
During the workflow within a project, there is often a need to code new parts or assign an already defined code from the catalog to an object.
The ESApro PDM Connector provides additional functionality to aid this process, allowing the PLM encoder to be launched directly, and the resulting code to be pasted into both the physical object and the ESApro catalogs. This allows fast and accurate entry of part numbers, improving efficiency and accuracy of part management within the project.
BOM acquisition within the PDM/PLM (optional)
Integration between ESApro and the PDM system is a critical aspect, as PDM software is often integrated with the company’s ERP software. It is therefore crucial to ensure that the BOMs generated by the different ESApro modules are readily integrated into the relevant PDM master data.
Through an additional functionality to be configured in conjunction with the PDM software administrator, it is possible to ease the acquisition of ESApro-generated lists within the document environment by directly associating them with the parent document. This process optimises the management and updating of BOMs, ensuring accurate synchronisation between the ESApro plant design environment and the documentation managed by the corporate’s PDM software.
